The adoption process is a process that takes time, effort and planning; however, the adoption process is well worth the effort because there are many children longing for a loving home environment and parents that want them.

To begin the process, one must fill out an adoption application form and then return it to the adoption agency. The next step is being put on a waiting list. Once you have been selected from the list you will probably have to attend training and educational classes to help prepare you for the adopted child.

Then there will be a kind of home study done on your home environment. A counselor will be chosen to visit you in your home to see if you and your home will be a good fit for the adopted child. Once the home study has been studied and evaluated, the adoptive parents will prepare for the child coming into their home. At this time you will sign legal adoption documents. Your counselor will explain all the details of this process and will talk with you for awhile until he or she feels satisfied that you understand the entire procedure. After the adopted child is brought into your home, there will visits from a counselor for about six months to ensure that everything is going well with the child and its new environment. The post adoption services will guide you, if need be, to other adoption support services should you need further guidance and support for your adoptive child and his or her needs.
